HR只睇學歷背景?公司CEO:性格更重要


SJ前言:這是一篇給HR / 管理人員 / 求職者借鑑的短文。求職者即使沒有所需的學歷,得到面試時也不要自卑,更應該把握機會將自己的長處重點發揮。與此同時,HR應用長遠目光衡量求職者,不應該只滿足過於表面的特質或一時的語言偽術。

 

全文:

I hired a candidate who didn’t meet the educational requirements. She didn’t have an Engineering degree.

我錄用了位員工,她並沒有達到我們要求的學歷背景,沒擁有工程學學位。

Here’s why:

即使是咁,我們仍然堅持錄用她,以下是一些原因:


It came down to her and another candidate. I liked her humility. 

面試時,只有這位員工和另外一名求職者順利來到最後面試。我欣賞她的「謙虛」。

The other candidate was very boastful about the college he went to and his accomplishments.  The HR manager was really impressed with him.

面試中,另一名求職者就他畢業的院校及取得成就顯得十分自信,不時自吹自擂。看得出HR也很滿意他的表現。

As the CEO, I had the final decision and I chose her.

作為公司的CEO,我擁有最後決定權,而我最終選擇了「她」。

She turned out to be an excellent team player.

在日後的工作表現中,她在團隊中的表現也沒有令我們失望。

I have learnt over the years that having a degree does not make you better at performing at a job.  It does not override qualities as humility, authenticity and integrity. 

以我多年的經驗看來,即使擁有某方面的學位不代表你就能勝任工作。反而,個人的「謙虛、可靠、誠實」等的性格特質在工作中擔當角色更重要。

In today’s world, we need to place higher metrics on these qualities because they are becoming extinct. Do you agree? 



現今世界,我們更應該看重這些性格特質,因為它們容易被忽略。

不知道因為什麼原因影響,從小我們被洗腦,要將

名牌大學 = 最好 = 工作能力最強 = 最好 = 一切最好

次等大學 = 普通 = 普通 = 普通 = 一切都是普通

實際上,這是不對的。話都有你聽:性格決定命運。好的性格比犀利背景出身重要多了,不是嗎?

所以HR下次in candidates 時,不要太武斷阿!
