I am a fan of your page and I visit your website on a daily basis! Haha!
As a PCLL student, I find your website super useful in providing updated income and work information of law firms!
Can you provide some advice as to:-
1) How NQ solicitors change law firms (ie. Joining another sizeable firm)? Is it by usual way of online application or by contacting headhunters?
2) How can NQ solicitors of local firms join city firms?
3) How can lower tier international firm solicitors join MC firms?
4) Will law firms look at NQ solicitor’s academic transcripts and honors during application?

1） NQ律師轉大一點的Firm，係透過 Online Application 定係 透過Headhunter?
答：
首先要了解Headhunter是什麼：他們是一群幫Client公司填補空缺的顧問，從而獲取高達Candidate年薪25%的Commission作為報酬。 能付出這麼多錢的公司，都屬於比較high end的公司，需求的職位也比較specialised.
以Law為例，印象中Headhunt找的都是Corporate Finance類, 如DCM, M&A等，其中又以PQE2-5最吃香，因為最當打最Fit。如以litigation 為例，近年則以Medical Negligence比較in demand，可能因為香港的醫生間唔中就切錯病人左右腳。
假設你講 NQ普通Local firm，headhunter需要你的機會比較少。但他們的習慣是，拿了你的CV，再約你上來interview先算！ 同地產Agent明知你不會買樓都要帶你睇樓一樣，好過齋坐。
所以，一般來講都係Online Application，亦即係Send封Cover Letter連resume 去屬意的Law firm。
必須注意： 今時今日，由於競爭激烈，NQ 的interview 很可能有 Written Test，以及competence based questions。 傾15分鐘背景就請人的年代已經遠去。（除非你爸爸是Law Firm的大客)

2） Local firm NQ律師如何加入City Firm?
答：
容我Draw個Analogy，你的問題差不多等於 ” 樹仁大學Year 1學生如何轉到HKU讀Law?” (我相信，假如在樹仁 爆4，全級第一名，拿10個 scholarships, IELTS 9分，識法文，做埋SU主席，加籃球隊隊長，很有可能可以從樹仁直入HKU Law， B Law都有機)
不是沒可能，但非常unlikely。假設你的是大型local firm，而又在做大Transactions大Deals，機會比較大。但是，近年好似已經沒有聽聞這樣的例子了。City Firm的Headcount好像沒有想像中那麼大。
有一位老前輩見到你的問題則 這樣說：法律呢行，識人好過識字，有大客跟你(例 ListCo, Pre-IPO 民企) ，就算你英文A到Z識唔晒，一樣有City Firm要你。但入去是一件事，留到下來就係另一件事。

3. 比較次等級的international firm律師如何加入Magic Circle firm?
答：
比local firm轉city firm容易很多。lower tier international firm 同magic circle firm本質上的差異比較細，但magic circle firm的精英主義盛行，人人都Oxbridge First Class Hons， 不同於一般international firms只需跑數，還需要一流的學歷與個人能力。
Brush up自己的CV吧，Bill的數要大，而且有客以外，最好做埋White Book的Contributing Editor，則機會大大提升。 至於點先做到White Book的Contributing Editor？ 真係唔知，如果有Contributing Editor睇到敝網，不妨電郵 StealJobs.com@gmail.com 匿名提供攻略。
