晉升前景 Career Prospect

“Please pay extra attention that the 8 stars are rated purely based on your employability & marketability when you take the name of GT to do your job hunting. There is no future for you to stay which is like 0 star in terms of internal promotion. 85% will become Officer and 15% might become Senior Officer after the programme, and they normally get $18K-19K basic with double pay + bonus (approx. $260-$275K p.a.). So that almost all of them left or will have left the Company straight after the programme due to poor package & the lack of career path right there. 2014 GT – All Gone; 2015 GT – Only 2 left; 2016 GT – also a notable number of them have already left.

However, since the ratio of GT application VS success is about 100:1 or even less meaning that only less than 1% applicants will be employed from some thousands of applications . It gives you a very good name (GT) to search for better jobs in the market. For the said 8 stars, I witnessed a notable number of former GTs got $360K+ annual package straight after the programme meaning that your 1 / 1.5 years of experience will help you get $30K per month in some MNCs which general staff might have to strive for 10 years or something. ” – Anonymous – 14.5.2018   

 

 

工作範圍 Scope of Work

“China Mobile International (CMI) is different from China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) which mainly helps China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC in China) deal with International Business such as Roaming, Submarine Cables, Data Centre, M2M lending coordination or some enterprise products bridging CMCC with overseas operators/ enterprises. CMI is also ambitious to make its own products e.g. mobile IPX / overseas MVNO (CMLink), however, it will definitely take a long time to develop in which it doesn’t care about money due to the unlimited financial support from its mother company, CMCC.

Each GT is assigned to Business/ Technical/ Functional streams depending on department’s need or individual preference. The game has been changing all the time in which the 1.5-year programme has been narrowed to just 1 year recently.

For Business stream, GT will be more like a commercial person dealing with Mobile Roaming/ Data Sales/ Voice Sales. Almost all clients are overseas partners, and GT will be offered the opportunity to get involved in commercial negotiation. Marketing is also in Business stream which mainly organises/ helps facilitate overseas conferences/ exhibitions as well as general marketing collaterals/ souvenirs/ some trivial things that you can think of.

For Technical stream, there are things like network pre-sales and mobile network & application engineering. However, for entry staff including GT, they are often exposed to admin stuff e.g. order processing & confirmation and many low-tech works using a poor internal system to coordinate with different departments to facilitate order activation/ service launch.

For Functional stream, you can definitely imagine the rest like HR, Legal, Process Management, Strategy & Finance, etc. Process Management is a small team dealing with procedural/ operational enhancement. Finance includes Taxation, Settlement, Accounting, etc. HR can be divided into Human Resources / Learning & Development, but people there are a bit crazy as far as I know.

For the 1.5-year programme, GT has a base department with rotation opportunities to any teams, each for 3 months – 6 months as well as 2 months for 1-year programme. But of course, if you’d like to develop a particular expertise, you don’t have to rotate. Some teams are with good exposure, but you can’t gain too much in most teams and you will become ZERO. Therefore, only insiders can recommend you where to go.

“The Company is trying so hard to pretend it’s international, however, it really can’t conceal its traditional Chinese mentality as it’s already into the bone. Right, clients are international partners, however, internal are Chinese & Chinese. The only good side is to develop your Mandarin & Simplified Chinese which is, indeed, highly efficient.
