“Management look down on contractor obviously because contractor is counted as expense instead of revenue. However, In long term, you will definitely be converted to permanent staff (unless you are really dumb). But being technical wont get you too far in IBM HK, you could only get promotion if you can get business deals for IBM.

Contractor is not allowed to face the client directly/go to all hands meeting, so sometime whole team leave and only you stay behind.

IBM HK is using really old technology because their clients are mainly banking / insurance company. So your technical skills will fall behind the market by a lot in few months time.

P.S. Many fresh graduate get into IBM because of the title “Consultant by degree”, but there is no consultant work at all, they turn to be a tester/developer (or Business analyst if they have no tech background but have really great communication skills).
