“-assessing tax liabilities of taxpayers
-conduct in-depth tax audits on selected cases, and come up with penalty package with taxpayer if necessary

“It welcomes accounting graduates/QP student members who are university fresh graduates. But some people do have 1-5 years of work experiences before joining IRD.

The work can be very different in different units. Most officers are responsible for issuing tax assessments and conduct simple tax audit. We also have some staff members dedicated for in-depth audit and investigation in some cases. It aims at testing the written communication and current affairs analytical and critical thinking ability of candidates. There will be 1 Chinese paper and 1 English paper and the commentative essays should be completed in 2 hours.

2. Individual interview for 15-30 mins
Remember to show you have good understanding towards the tax affairs and government finance in HK. You will be asked about the work of IRD and technical questions about the Inland Revenue Ordinance. So revising your university tax textbook or QP module D is a MUST.
