新既一年換新工,分享下自己依10年既會計路
2006加入 Big 4, 人工唔使講,大家都知道
其實在big4的日子沒什麼特別,我大學成績比較差,入唔到FI/大組,做既都係D話大唔大既client,最大既client係間比較出名既list co。2008/9金融海嘯,公司炒人,雖然有幸避過一劫,不過個年無得升S2,人工無得加之餘仲無bonus, 士氣勁差,開始懷疑自己既能力,同埋開始萌生離開既念頭。當時做big4就覺得好辛苦,唔係時間長既關係,係自己覺得唔係自己既專長,搵唔到得心應手個種感覺,做人亦唔夠醒目,manager對我都麻麻,係埋唔到堆,可有可無既人,當然technical都唔勁,當時覺得自己係失敗者。
2010 入commercial,離開既時候仲係S1,人工大概25-27k,實數唔記得,但好好彩,入左間大公司,一做就做左5年半,亦都開始左我開心順利既幾年
係依間公司做management reporting,入職$30k, 雙糧+3個月花紅,annual package變相加左50%,亦開始儲到D錢。
係依間公司既第一個老細係個肥佬,佢個人很肯教人,做錯野只會叫你改,唔會鬧,我都係佢身上學到野,no blaming culture. 出左來commercial,搵到自己既定位,終於搵番個種得心應手既感覺,人亦變得比較有自信,同同事間既相處亦因為有番自信而變得比較融洽,自己敢主動搵同事食飯吹水。當初入commercial,人際關係都好難適應,自己係個好內向既人,說話唔夠玲瓏,肥boss亦睇得出我有依方面既問題,佢鼓勵我多同同事溝通,放鬆D。肥老細都好睇我,第二年人工加到$32k,照舊雙糧+3個月bonus。 好快肥佬細比公司調去外國,肥佬係亦係佢走之前薦我promotion,人工加到$38k
我第二個老細係個好精明既女人,你一”吉“起條尾,佢就知你想搞0羊。係依個女boss身上又係學到好多technical既野。job scope亦由普通既management reporting做到有關valuation同acquisition,第一次做purchase price allocation,第一次做share option valuation,做board paper. 第4年女boss都走左,換左直接under CFO
恐怖既日子來啦,CFO係個好神經質既女人,晚晚留到10點,佢唔走你都唔準走,24/7 standby佢隨時打電話來問你野,脾氣又臭又stubborn, 周圍得罪business既人。 不過依個CFO亦都係一個好好既反面教材,我地做business partnering既,一定要同business既人做partner,而唔係同business既人做敵人,當然佢最後比人鏟走左,不過佢走之前都比左個好好既rating我。
係依間公司都做左5年半,決定出去睇下,離職時人工$48k(16個月糧)。下個月返新工,人工$65k+bonus (話至少有1個月)
以上列出既經驗同人工,純粹分享同比大家作個參考,以近10年工作經驗來講,好多同輩都有D做緊FC or finance director,自己已經慢人一截,大家同行新年加油!
分享搵工之路
以下係自己搵工數月來得出既少少經驗,同感受,未必apply to 各位亦未必正確,僅供參考。
開始搵工,update CV, send CV比各大agents。 有師兄同我講過,CV唔好濫send, 你張CV越珍貴越好, 不過最後我都send左幾多出去,嘻嘻。 好快得到agent既call, 好多agent既feedback都話我既commercial experience幾好,因為從business partnering, management reporting, FP&A, 少少既financial reporting,到 皮毛既acquistion同ops都有做過少少,skill set比較廣泛,所以比較容易sell出去。 但當然每樣做少少,唔夠專。 亦因為之前間公司比較出名,普通人都會知道,所以都有幫助。
下一步agent會refer我一D適合既工,問我pro唔proceed. 我proceed去apply既,大概有7份,最後有4份有interview既機會。
第一份: local 大list co既finance manager, report to finance controller (女人),有個written test (計下NPV,做下business case) 依個阿姐比我個感覺好麻煩,一開波就話公司有好多politics,叫我考慮清楚. 全程50分鐘既interview,主要係有佢講,無我講。 我就一直微笑點頭。不過好快第二日已經叫我去2nd In CFO. CFO係個好後生既女人,幾靚女架,人好nice, 都係問D閒話家常既問題。 之後過兩日就出左offer. 但考慮過依間公司既politics 同埋依個阿姐有D難搞, 我婉拒左個offer.
第二間係日本公司,香港regional office, 個office好靚架,地點好,條team鬼多個人,個hiring manager又係阿姐,個interview全程用英文既,一開始要做個personality test ,睇下你性格適唔適合,第一個in我既係同team既peer,佢地話要睇下existing既同事同我夾唔夾得埋。然後要做個我自己覺得好難既written test ,考excel,要自寫formula dup 幾個waterfall chart出來同寫analysis,時間好緊逼,同埋以前做waterfall都用thinkcell,無自己寫過formula,不過臨危不亂,我上網google左waterfall既formula,結果做得出(滴汗)。 然後hiring manager先出現,列排問我strength, weakness,點handle唔同culture既同事,跟住佢講左句“i expect my staff to perform beyond expectation”, 我心想,咁你地既人工係米beyond my expectation先。 之後都順利過關到見VP of finance, 不過因為時間配合唔到(時未聖誕,放晒假),最後都無見到VP。
第三間公司係US MNC,不過就香港人為主,依間感覺都幾好,job scope我都好喜歡,做business partnering. 第一round HR,然後係business既 GM, 第三ROUND CFO, CFO係中國人,要講流利國語。不過之後就無回复嚕,有D失望
第四間係間科技公司,地點離屋企有D遠,本來唔打算去,後來約好左就費事推,因為無期望,所以連著衫都好hea,我當時只不過著左件冷衫,淺色uniqlo悠閒褲,gshock手錶,new balance波鞋,連學歷證明都無帶, 死未。見既係HR同finance controller(女人), 結果感覺出奇地好,可能因為平常心, interview既過程好似傾計咁,個FC都講返話佢條team好happy既,個度好open culture, 講落個都覺得幾適合自己。 之後下個禮拜就叫我2nd in 個 CFO, 都係女人,佢係個好有氣派同氣量既人,佢話公司既culture要promote open communication,亦都係自己好相信既一樣野。 結果就accept左個offer啦
總結: interviews
通常會出現既問題有:
1) tell me about yourself
2) what is your strength
3) what is your weakness and how do you overcome your weakness?
4) how do you manage staff that are older than you and more knowledgeable that you?
5) tell me a challenge/conflict you faced in your previous company and how did you resolve?
6) how do your peers/bosses think about you
7) describe your character in 3 words i.e. kind? hardworking?
8) how do you deal with colleagues with different cultural background
9) since you do not have related industry knowledge, how do you make sure you can perform well in this job?
10) what are your bosses’ comments on you?
11) tell me youe greatest achievement in terms of career and personal life
之後通常會問你有無question要問返佢地,我會問:
1) who are the users or the business people that i will face
2) what is the culture of this company?
3) what is your (hiring manager) management style ?
4) how does a routine day of work look like?
5) what are the important deliverables and timeline
6) who are the people under myself (age, education background, job title n duty) and how are they like?
Conclude返以上interview既感受
1)唔好oversell自己,明買明賣
2) 你個CV已經highlight左你既skill set, interviewer叫得你來interview,其實係想睇係你同佢性格夾唔夾,所以可以講多D自己既性格,interviewer通常比較鍾意D性格比較友善平和既員工,鍾意team spirit, 如果表現得太過aggressive,可能會反效果。 當然唔排除有D boss係想搵個aggressive既手下幫自己打江山,不過都係個句,做返自己,唔好刻意去扮一個你唔係既人。
3)打扮都唔使太刻意,有D唔係中環既公司,smart casual其實都ok
4) 放鬆D, 平常心,閒話家常,笑多D
新工都係business partnering/FP&A既scope,不過會lead條team,可以學下management skill.以前係MNC自己係single contributor,未試過有staff under自己,所以都有D驚驚地。
